ACL Day 1 should have been Day 3 to close the festival, so many good artists, all performing on the same day! Big Boi, Foster the People, Nas & Damian Marley, Santigold, Pretty Lights, and Coldplay! Kanye West took to the stage on Day 1 to close out the night during ACL! Fans had a hard decision to make on if to watch Kanye or Coldplay that played sets simultaneously at the festival. I personally chose Kanye and really enjoyed the huge performance which was similar to a huge theatrical production. He was joined by about 40 ballet dancers, incredible stage lighting, a remodeled stage, and a set broken up into 3 ACTs just like a play. Jigga didn’t make an appearance as I’m sure many were expecting since the Watch the Throne Tour kicks off on September 26 in Vegas. Regardless, kudos to Mr. West for giving Austin an experience!
I did notice something about the show that not too many people may have realized. The set/show Kanye performed last night for ACL Music Festival was also the same exact show Kanye did at the Coachella Music Festival this year. (FYI, you can watch the entire 2hr Coachella show on YouTube)
Aside from Kanye, there was another artist performing on another stage that I think also deserves acknowledgment for an incredible show and that would be “Pretty Lights”! Watch this performance that was also occurring at the same time.
